Sorry, I have very few Indian stamps, except for the most common, and none with any state names on them. I'll have to just follow the thread from the sidelines. Nice though

Chamba SG29

The dark hue around the Overprint is cused by seepage of the
linseed Indians often added to the cancelling inks as an ink
transfer vehicle.

Anyone have a map of the boundaries of Chamba?
the one in Wiki 1903 says it shows the boundaries
in the Punjab map, dashed if I could see it.

I have seen linseed dehanced cancels from Gilbert and Ellice Islands, and even Tuvalu in the 1980's and 90's. this cover is from Nui Island, 1992, date plugs upside down.

That's very surprising BeeSee, I thought that practice
died out in the fifties!
Can I nick your image please?

BTW that is a very unique Airmail lozenge on your cover

Rod, anything I post here is nickable without asking (did I invent a word here?)

I think that envelope was the last of the "made in Canada" types before they were all done in China.

I edit this to add that I used to send envelopes to my good friend on Nui, which I prestamped, and he cancelled them and sent them pack through the post. That is why they were made in canada.

The Indian currency at the time was 12 Pies = 1 Anna and 16 Annas = 1 Rupee.

I'm glad to hear it, then. You show the first, faint glimmerings of common sense.
