I'm tired of eBay. I want some online seller who has several things I want (found by Scott number), I put in and order, pay one shipping charge, and be done.

I've had good luck in the past with admestamp.com. Right now he doesn't happen to have what I'm after. Anybody know of another similar site?

Jan

Hi Jan:

I have had much success using the smaller stamp auction sites. These sites, where put together, with the idea of buying just the single stamp that you need.

I am not advertising, these sites, but just trying to be helpful.

www.stampoffers.com
www.stamphead.com

These sites do not charge the sellers any fees whatsoever, so the sellers have no outrageous shipping and handling fees. Most charge the actual cost of shipping the stamps, which usually runs about 50 cents, and most sellers will combine your wins, within a week or two, and charge just on shipping cost.

I have had many pleasant dealings with these sellers, who are really just collectors, selling off their duplicate stock, and they are not dealers, ( which you find on Ebay ) doing this as a business.

Thanks, Bob. I'll check them out.

Tom -- I collect stamps with American flags on them. A lot of what I need are more recent models (1993 - present) that are often from panes. Say, for instnace, out of the Civil War Series of 1995, Scott 2975. I really only want the 2975e (Shiloh) and 2975t (Gettsyburg) stamps because they are the ones with flags showing.

I keep looking. I have the best luck at shows but I haven't been to one lately nor seen any nearby that I was able to attend, so I thought I'd look online, but like I said, I'm tired of eBay.

Thanks, fellas. All suggestions are welcome.

Jan

I have bought and sold stamps on Stampoffers.com since it switched from being just a chatboard for collectors to taking the plunge into becoming an auction....there are NO FEES to buy or sell..its free..the owner is a stamp collector..you can buy the 5 and 7 cent stamps that dealers will not bother with because you are dealing with collectors...i sell my duplicates at 1/3 of scott OR LESS and most of the other guys do as well..my userid is the same on Stampoffers as it is here...take a look..there are 59,000 stamps listed !!

Hi Jan.....

If I'm not mistaken......it seems like you've run into "the wall"......when you first start a specialized collection you need everything......but after awhile you reach the point where the things you need are few and far between.....the wall is the point where there are only a select few items left and it can seemingly take forever to find them.

If you post a list of Scott numbers maybe we can help.

It's the quest, Tom -- !

When I've put in my 50 posts, I'll start advertising what I'm after. I do not want to circumvent the system. And anyway, finding them is half the fun.

I've been buying some harder to find items on StampWants. It's easy to navigate the site and you have a choice of straight buys or auctions. I've also started taking a look at Philb's Stampoffers also.
