Nice critters John,
surprised Australia Post did not include
two of Australia's finest!

The world's friendliest flies,
and the world's hungriest termites.

Gah, I'm glad they don't have brains.

I remember the flies. Up north they would go in my ears and down south they went for my nose. Or visa versa. Quite disturbing. I liked the crocs better I'm thinking. At least you could see them coming. Maybe. Are the termites those guys that built 10 foot high columns out of mud to survive the rainy season? that was cool. Er, hot.

Nicest people in the world though. I'd be back there in a flash.

Termites and flies are probably coming Rod.

With out our flies we would not have our great Australian salute.
Termites are really bad here but at least they only eat dead wood.
There are only 3 termites in the world that eat living wood or green wood.

Puzzler as a bricklayer my first boss wore glasses and the flies would spin around on the inside of his lenses. It would send him crazy!

I must admit stampvirgin taking these stamps off paper gave me nightmares.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of drought and flooding rains,

And does someone have a scan of the stamp from a few years ago featuring a redback? Now that one really did give me the willies ...

It is a shame that the Redback stamp was only released in the yearbooks.

Good to see the termite mound. I do not have the weevil as yet!

I like my insects!

They always hung around outside dunneys (toilets)
I was always freaked out they would bite me
on the bum.

Your termite is different from Steve's John,
you have the "magnetic" termite, the mound
points North / South as an airconditioning thing,
avoiding the extreme heat at noon.

Those termites are very clever survivors.

The old Redback on the toilet seat. Unfortunately very true.

I have been looking for the rest of the dangerous Australians issue.
But can not find the $1 snake. My high denoms are a mess at the minuet.
