I don't want to meet up with any of these critters.

Visit Sunny Australia - where nearly everything can kill you!

It's amazing what you get used to. No matter how many times we spray the mailbox, the redbacks keep coming back. Bit of a lucky dip when you put your hand in the mailbox............

Is it true, as I have been told, that there are more species of poisonous snakes in Australia than any other continent?

Indeed. I stepped across a brown snake last summer, which is one of the world's most venomous.

Let's not even mention the wasps in our electricity box.....Huge, angry, and potentially fatal.

Fatal wasps?! We have wasps here in Georgia in the US, but they are a rather benign bunch and will sting only when provoked and even then it is just a momentary pain.

Well, only fatal if they attack en masse, so please excuse the poetic license. However, as the whole nest will attack if provoked (as they can build nests anywhere, this isn't hard to do), the risk is very real....

Here in Melbourne, the police patrol cars are equipped with heavy machine guns, specifically to deal with the wasps ...

Only in the outer suburbs, Jubilee. Here in the more civilized quarters, the 'Roos were eradicated some years ago.

I was attacked by a feral koala once. It was chasing a possum that was after a wombat. Bloody chaos.

QED. The Bush is a dangerous place. Better to live within walking distance of the CBD of Sydney or Melbourne.

Definitely not. That's why I'm looking for a house on the coast. Mind you, in the hills in Melbourne, I was hand-feeding kookas, King's and cockies. Lovely
