I couldn't find a Mountain thread in the search engine so I thought there should be one. I'll start with the very iconic image of Mount Shasta. I like to collect postcards from different publishers. This one is 1899 from the Detroit Photographic Company.

I spent my high school years in the small town of Chipita Park on the north side of Pike's Peak. I climbed all over this mountain back then. Lost part of one of my toes due to frostbite on this mountain. Oh to be young. This postcard also published by Detroit Photographic Co. 1901

I was planting trees on this mountain for the forest service until they ran us off. We wanted to stay and keep working but they wouldn't let us. The loggers came down and said they felt some really bad earthquakes up higher in elevation. Good thing they made us leave. They mountain blew and I viewed the whole thing from across the Colombia river in Portland on top of Mount Tabor.

Oops, I just realized I posted the wrong postcard in my second post. Here's the postcard of Pikes Peak. Sorry about that,
I climbed to the summit on the 4th of July so I could see all the fireworks going off in Colorado Springs. I froze my butt off. "Dumb as a rock" as my dad would say.

The Arizona petrified forest is thought provoking. Would it take longer to petrify than it has been since anyone with a saw would have been there? The sections of the tree look uniform and smoothly cut.

Must have been quite the sight, watching ST Helens lose her top! That's Spirt Lake right?
