Melbourne Olympic Games, Australia, 1956, issued by Poland on November 2, 1956. The stamps were designed by Czeslaw Kaczmarczyk and engraved by different Polish engravers as indicated.

- Fencing, engraved by Edward Konecki
- Boxing, engraved by Stefan Lukaszewski
- Rowing, engraved by Marian Romuald Polak
- Hurdling, engraved by Boguslaw Brandt
- Javelin throw, engraved by Czeslaw S#322;ania

(Missing the high value of 1.55Z shows Gymnastics, engraved by Jerzy Miller)





About a month later, on December 12, 1956, additional stamp, engraved by Jerzy Miller, was issued. The stamp depicting Elzbieta Krzesinska-Dunska (1934-2015), a Polish long jumper who won the gold medal at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics (and the silver medal at the 1960 Rome Olympics), becoming one of Poland's most celebrated female athletes of the 20th century.

The 75th anniversary of revival of the Olympic Games, engraved by Claude Haley and issued by the Central African Republic on December 28, 1972. Each stamp features the place of the Games and winner of the games.

- Olympic Games Athens, 1896, Spyridon Louis (Louys), Marathon running
- Olympic Games Paris, 1900, Hermann Barrelet, Rowing (single sculls)
- Olympic Games St. Louis, 1904, Myer Prinstein, Triple jump
- Olympic Games London, 1908, Henry Taylor, Swimming (400 m freestyle)
- Olympic Games Stockholm, 1912, Claes Johansson, Greco-Roman wrestling

Not exactly. There's a typical story of that period behind this mini sheet.

That set (4 stamps in regular sheets and in a mini sheet) were prepared for the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, indeed. However, due to the Soviet block boycott of those Oympic Games, the issue was suspended, and issued only after alterations in the design, as a commemoration of Olympic Games in general, with no specific reference to Los Angeles.

See the cycling stamp - the line of the front wheel is interrupted in the place where the specific text was located.
