That was one hell of a ball. To bowl what was nearly a wide and then take out the middle stump. Awesome. I was born in England, but I am now an Aussie, so I don't mind who wins, although I do lean towards the Aussies. I'm not a fanatic though, like these other guys. Steve |

I'm enjoying this thread -- even though I know absolutely nothing about Cricket, except that it gives us the phrase, "a sticky wicket," which I enjoy using to describe the occasional life situation at work and home. By the way, I don't know the meaning of the term as it applies to the game, only as it applies to being in a difficult situation. However, I am a big fan of GOLF and I have to admit, there are few sports in the world that the bizarre made-up vocabulary one finds in golf. But come to think of it, golf is another sport exported from the U.K., so it kind of makes sense.... KirkS |

I played cricket in Tuvalu in the early '80's. The matches were held on the old airfield before it was paved over. During one at bat, my baseball skills paid off when the bowler failed to keep the ball down and I was able to get the bat around and launch the ball deep out of bounds into the banana groves. More often than not, I found my self flailing uselessly at balls bouncing over the place. And during fielding I found it difficult to catch a tiny ball without an oversized baseball glove... ah them days... |

Quote: The best 2 teams are not even playing in the ashes spock! The Aussies are still licking there wounds from the hammering we got in India. The wickets have always been difficult in India for the Aussies. For us to win anything in India is amazing! But we will keep trying. |

Ok so who won these tests between Australia and England? Or did they break for tea or lemonade or something like that? |

You should follow the india SA series coming up that promises to be exciting. If india win then it the indian era will surely begin but if we lose then it will be back to square one
That and the world cup will surely answer the question of whether there is a new world order in place or if its a case of false dawn for indian cricket. |

Yes spock! India v South Africa is going to be a great series for all. These 2 teams if I am right are fighting for the number 1 spot in the world cricket ratings. If this series is played in India. India has won the series before it has started. If it is in South Africa it is going to be the hardest series to win in a long time. All that needs to happen now is that Australia gets the games on free to air TV. Here's hoping! John |

I agree with you, spock1k, the SA/India series should be exciting. I'd put my money on India at the moment though, as the SA fasties haven't been in top form . . .
And KirkS, I'm not sure that golf is actually a sport from Britain - I always thought it came from the Netherlands, where "kolf" is their word for a bat. I seem to remember they used to play it on ice. (However, I must admit I share Mark Twain's view on golf - but maybe that's just because I've always been useless at it).

The information on watching cricket on-line has been kept from me! My wife and 2 daughters do not like cricket. For me to watch the cricket on-line would be like the SCF cricket team defeating India and SA. |
