in the Swiss city of Saint-Ursanne there is an ancient stone bridge with a statue of St. John of Nepomuk -- the saint patron of bridges. At one time this bridge was also decorated with a statue of a dragon ...

interesting example of an error exists on a postage stamp of Gabon. Famous painting by Italian artist Giovanni Antonio Canal (Canaletto) signed as work Ippolito Caffi.

Suramadu Bridge, Indonesia

The Suramadu Bridge between Surabaya on the island of Java and the town of Bangkalan on the island of Madura in Indonesia was opened in June 2009. It is the longest in Indonesia and the first bridge to cross the Madura Strait.

The Marco Polo Bridge, or Lugou Bridge, is a stone bridge spanning the Yongding River in the Fengtai District, China, about 15 km southwest of Beijing. Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Marco Polo Bridge, printed by lithography, and issued by China (People's Republic) on July 7, 1952 as one of a set of four stamps commemorating the 15th anniversary of the war against Japan, Scott No. 155, plus a photo of the bridge as it appears now.

The bridges of Hoshu-Shikoku Connections, Japan - Kobe-Naruto route

The Kobe-Awaji-Naruto route is a 89 km long highway built between 1976 and 1998. It passes through Awaji island and crosses two very wide straits: the Akashi and Naruto. On the rute are two bridges: Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Ohnaruto Bridge.

Airplane over bridge, airmail stamp designed by Italian artist Giuseppe Rondini (1885-1955), printed by photogravure, and issued for use in the Italian colony of Eritrea on September 15, 1936, Scott No. C11. Note the decorative fasces, symbolic of Fascist Italy, at the near end of the barrier wall.

The bridges of Hoshu-Shikoku Connections, Japan - Seto-Chuo Expressway

The Seto-Chuo Expressway is for both a highway and a railway. The total lengths of highway and railway are about 39 kilometers.
The rute was opened to traffic in April 1988. The route has 42 bridges among them six long-span bridges:

The Garabit Viaduct is a railway arch bridge spanning the River Truyère near Ruynes-en-Margeride, Cantal, France, in the mountainous Massif Central region. The bridge was constructed between 1882 and 1884 by Gustave Eiffel, with structural engineering by Maurice Koechlin, and was opened in 1885. It is 565 m (1,854 ft) in length and has a principal arch of 165 m (541 ft) span. Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Garabit Viaduct, designed and engraved by Pierre Munier, and issued by France on July 5, 1952, Scott No. 683, Y&T No. 928, plus a photo of this bridge taken from a similar viewpoint.

A solid construction of steel and stone was built at a flood-proof location after the wooden bridge had been destroyed several times by heavy floods in the 1890s.
