Here is the 50 centavos value (Sc #482) from Ecuador's 1947 definitive series. Stamp depicts Francisco Javier Eugenio de Santa Cruz y Espejo (1747-1795), a scientist, writer and lawyer of colonial Ecuador. Espejo wrote about the corruption by the colonial authorities. He was imprisoned for this, and at the age of 47 died of dysentery shortly thereafter.

18 May 2004, Isamu Noguchi

Barbican Centre Art Gallery in London hosted an exhibition on Isamu Noguchi until a week ago. It was a wonderful show, even showed a few mock-ups, which he helped Buckminster Fuller's futuristic car projects. I feature an image below, as this section was completely Black & White installation!

Nice post tomonakaazu! Technically, the engraving on the Aussie stamp is a little nicer and the printing is cleaner, but the strangeness of Czechoslovakian stamp is more intriguing...to me, anyway.

Here are four from Malacca. They are the 1c values of the definitive issues of 1949, 1954, 1957 and 1960.

Lovely feature bookbndrbob! Great examples to view engravers' technique and effort, and compare different atmospheres of Letter-press and Intaglio on the same subject. Even she ware the same earrings.. : )

Adding one more Queen's side view - this case in intaglio, and maybe the same earring..? Hair separation line existed on her right side view. And roundness (or body bumps?) of penguins are expressed by tiny dots.

January 1906 / Mosque at Kairouan

"Arch and capitals" depicted in stamps are one of my collecting themes, and found a topic page in this forum recently!
This stamp shows multi-cultural mixture of architectural ornaments from East and West, in North Africa.

Featured in my Well Centred blog last summer: https://wellcentred.wordpress.com/2...nd-capitals/
