How About Your Tractors?

Here is Pakistan's September 12, 1970 20 paisa value (Sc #296) commemorating the 10th FAO (UN) Regional Conference for the Near East hosted by Islamabad. A tractor and a fertilizer factory are shown on the stamp.

On April 20, 1993 Syria issued this 1150 piastres stamp (Sc #1293) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of agricultural reform.

This April 1, 1964 70 centimos value (Sc #1229) of Spain is from the fourteen-stamp set commemorating 25 years of peace, i.e., the end of the Spanish Civil War. The agriculture-themed stamp of the set depicts a tractor.

Here is the 40 centavos value (Sc #715) from Ecuador's August 26, 1964 three-stamp set commemorating the Alliance for Progress program. The Alliance for Progress was inaugurated by U.S. President John F. Kennedy to create economic cooperation between the U.S. and Latin American countries. A tractor and a factory, symbols of agriculture and industry, are shown on the stamp.

On May 27, 1975 Bahamas issued a four-stamp set publicizing economic diversification for the islands. The 18c value of the set (Sc #376) is inscribed "growing more food" and depicts a tractor.

Here are the two high values (Sc #s 260-1) from Rhodesia's April 26, 1968 four-stamp set commemorating the 15th World Pluoghing Contest hosted by Norton, in what is now north central Zimbabwe. The 1'6 stamp shows a ca. 1905 steam powered tractor, and the 2'6 value depicts a modern (1968) tractor and plough.

This November 20, 1972 three dirhams value (Sc #325) of Qatar is from the eight-stamp set commemorating UN Day. This stamp features the UN's Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and it shows a tractor and a helicopter.

On May 28, 1966 Portugal issued a set of three, identically-designed, but differently colored stamps to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the National Revolution. These stamps show symbols of agricultural and industrial development. Here is the 4 escudo value (Sc #973) of the set.

Here is the 24 (pf) value (Mi #427) from the DDR's April 30, 1954 two-stamp set commemorating the 7th international Bicycle Peace Race.

This May 2, 1950 6c +4c value (Sc #B211) of Netherlands is from the six-stamp "Summer" charity set. Stamp depicts a tractor with a hay mowing attachment.

A tractor hauling sacks of potatoes is shown on the one franc value (Sc #258) of Liechtenstein's Agriculture pictorial definitives series of May 3, 1951.

On July 22, 1951 Poland issued a three-value set of identically-designed, but differently colored stamps commemorating the seventh anniversary of the Polish People's Republic. The stamps depict President Boleslaw Bierut (1892-1956) flanked by symbols of industry (left) and agriculture (right). The 45 grosz value (Sc #518) is shown here.

These two antique tractor stamps were issued by Aland Islands on February 1, 2022. The local rate value (1.90 euro at issue date) depicts a Valmet 20, a Finnish tractor manufactured from 1955-63 which produced 19.5 horsepower. The 3.50 euro stamp shows a homemade tractor based on a Ford model A automobile.

Regarding the Ford tractor, battlegrounds.com says, "A home-built car-tractor built by Runar Karlsson of Ringbole in Jamala in the beginning of the 1940s. The framework came off a Ford model A and the tractor was later renovated by his grandson Kristoffer Karlsson."
