Octopus, designed by Aslam, printed by lithography (Harrison & Sons), and issued by Senegal on January 2, 1987 as one of a set of five stamps depicting marine fauna, Scott No. 705.

The high value 9.00 kr stamp of Norway's 2004 "indigenous sea life" set of 3, features the Atlantic bobtail (Sepiola atlantica). This small mollusk (mantle of adults is less than .85") is a species of bobtail squid native to northeastern Atlantic Ocean.

On June 7, 1978 New Zealand issued a set of 5 "Resources of the Sea" stamps. The 35c value (SG #1178) shows a squid along with a kingfish, a snapper and a grouper.
