Nells250 - Thanks. I really like the design and engraving work on that Republic of China spiny lobster stamp.

Now for something shiny: Here is an image of a stamp depicting a species (Cassis nana) of sea snail commonly called helmet head, printed by lithogravure, and issued by Maldive Islands on January 25, 1975, Scott No. 533.

Croatian Crustacean cover

I can't quite make out the species of the first one: Pal?? elephas

Nethrops norvegicus

Astacus astacus

Bonus: 11-11-11 cancel, and QR code stamps (I don't think there is a topic for those yet... edit: https://goscf.com/t/15653) I don't know where the codes take you or what message they contain. I dumped my smart phone.

Thai Crabs (2nd series) 1994. I think these are freshwater crabs. Apologies for my failing eyesight: the lack of contrast in the text print means I can't make out the species.

The Croatian lobster = Lobster (Palinurus elephas Fabricius). Lobsters belong to the family Palinuridae or spiny lobsters (from the genus Palinurus – long-tailed or spiny lobsters).

Thanks 22crows - so this is the standard issue lobster that'd be served up in a restaurant?

In a Croatian restaurant I presume, as it is a European spiny lobster. We have our own very nice rock lobsters in Australia.

I am a bad New Englander... I don't eat lobster! My boyfriend does, though, and that means good ol' Atlantic Maine lobster.

Here we eat "land prawns". Thankfully there isn't a bug big enough to qualify as "land lobster".
