Militiaman armed with what appears to be a version of the Soviet PPSh-41 submachine gun (photo), stamp designed by Hungarian graphic artist Ferenc Bokros (1891-1974), printed by photogravure, and issued by Hungary on February 18, 1967 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Workers' Militia, Scott No. 1818.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a 1757 model Spanish-made flintlock infantry musket and musket parts, engraved by Pablo Sampedro Molero, and issued by Spain on May 29, 1976 to commemorate the USA's Bicentennial, Scott No. 1947, Edifil No. 2322. Technical note: Scott indicates that this weapon is a rifle, but I believe that information is incorrect. During the American Revolution, at least 12,000 of these Spanish muskets were supplied to the Americans at Boston. Historical note: Although the USA declared its independence from Great Britain in 1776, the Constitution of the United States was not adopted until 1787, and only after being ratified by conventions in eleven states did it go into effect, on March 4, 1789.
