Brazil International Day of Families August 16, 1994 The International Day of Families is proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993. The day reflects the importance the international community attaches to families. The first such day was observed on May 15, 1994.  |

These two were Canada's first special Christmas issue, showing a family in a typical Canadian winter scene.  It was poorly designed stamps like this which finally convinced the Post Office (in 1968) to create the Canadian Stamp Advisory Committee to assist in getting the best designs on Canadian stamps.
