Here is an image of a stamp depicting Polish-Lithuanian military leader Tadeusz Kosciuszko (1746-1817) leading a street battle against the Russians in Kraków, designed and engraved by Boguslaw Brandt (1909-1983), and issued by Poland on November 30, 1954 as one of a set of three stamps commemorating the 160th anniversary of Kosciuszko's Insurrection, Scott No. 659.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the "super-cannon" from French author Jules Verne's novel Les Cinq cents millions de la Bégum ("The Begum's Millions," 1879), designed by Bernard Minne, engraved by French artist Jean Miermont (1915-1973), and issued by Monaco on June 7, 1955 as one of a set of eleven stamps commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of Jules Verne (1828-1905), Scott No. 344, plus an image of an illustration by French painter and illustrator Léon Benett (1839-1917) depicting the fictional super-cannon, capable of firing massive incendiary charges and gas shells over a distance of 40 km (about 25 miles).

The Imperial Guard of Napoleon I

The Imperial Guard was a group of elite soldiers of the French Army under the direct command of Napoleon I. The Guard was divided into the staff, infantry, cavalry, and artillery regiments, as well as battalions of sappers and marines.
One of the six stamps in this set shows artillery.
