This 50 centimo stamp (Sc #581) from Spain's 1936-8 definitive series depicts Spanish Baroque painter Diego Velasquez (1599-1660). The pose on the stamp is very similar to the one (shown here) on a detail/close-up view of a 1643 self portrait by the artist.

From wikipedia, "Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velasquez was the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV and of the Spanish Golden Age."

This April 19, 1884 3.50 kr stamp (Facit #1198) of Norway is the lower value of a two-stamp set commemorating the bicentenary of the town of Tromso. Stamp depicts a decree and signature of King Christian VII of Denmark-Norway giving Tromso the status of town. This was done to make the regulation of trade with Pomor (Russia) easier.

Second pic shows oil portrait of Christian VII (1749-1808) as he appeared in 1772 (age 23) by Swedish artist Alexander Rosan. Christian VII reigned as king only nominally, due to mental illness.
