George Enescu (1881-1955) was a Romanian composer, virtuoso violinist, pianist, conductor and teacher. A child prodigy, Enescu created his first musical composition at the age of five. Many of Enescu's works were influenced by Romanian folk music. Here are images of the four stamps in a set designed and engraved by Ion Dumitrana (1923-1976), and issued by Romania on September 5, 1964 to publicize the Third International George Enescu Festival, Bucharest, Scott Nos. 1673-76. - nethryk Enescu, piano keys, and neck of violin, after original artwork by I. Molnar. Enescu at piano. Enescu Festival Medal, by Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Stanescu (1881-1967). Bronze statue of Enescu (1943), by Romanian sculptor Gheorghe D. Anghel (1904-1966). |

Friedrich Ludwig Jahn (1778-1852) was a German gymnastics educator and nationalist. He is commonly known as Turnvater Jahn, roughly meaning "father of gymnastics" Jahn. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a portrait of Jahn, designed by Finke, engraved by Hans-Joachim Fuchs, and issued by Germany (West Berlin) on July 13, 1978, Scott No. 9N418, Michel No. 570. - nethryk |

Do these count ? I would certainly say so too. This online autograph collection (as with my analogue version) is non-discriminatory. Fantastic examples. I really like the telegraph stamp too. Nice find. Keep 'em coming! |

stallzer - Nice ones! Frédéric François Chopin (1810-1849) was a Polish composer, virtuoso pianist, and music teacher of French–Polish parentage. He was one of the great masters of Romantic music and has been called "the poet of the piano". Here is an image of a stamp designed by Andrzej Heidrich after a pen portrait of Chopin made in 1841 by French writer George Sand (1804-1876), engraved by Czeslaw Slania, and issued by Poland on October 17, 1999, Scott No. 3484. - nethryk |

Here are a couple from Austria And a trio from Germany. Signatures seem to be a popular feature on German stamps I've noticed. NB: Replaced missing images. |
