Quoth Wikipedia: Quote: In Blackfoot, the name for the site is Estipah-skikikini-kots. According to legend, a young Blackfoot wanted to watch the buffalo plunge off the cliff from below, but was buried underneath the falling buffalo. He was later found dead under the pile of carcasses, where he had his head smashed in. |

Quote: Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Canada 2002. I guess some rock formations cannot be majestic. Compared to some US stamps, it is actually interesting rather than some stylistic rendering, I googled it and it is a UNESCO World Hertiage site. What do you think is wrong? |

Quote: If you want to get us back on target, why not post a huh-stamp? ikeyPikey, I really would, but I don't think I have one. Sorry about threadguiding. I can't help it. I teach school and spend all day trying to keep juveniles on task. Quote: a young Blackfoot wanted to watch the buffalo plunge off the cliff from below, but was buried underneath the falling buffalo So what killed him? Sure, his head was smashed in. But since he clearly had no brain to begin with... |

Stamps That Make You Go... Huh??? This one from the Community Foundation 2019 (scott B28-B29) When I saw this stamp the first time, it made me think of the film released in 2016 sausage party. A completely crazy film where food has only one idea in mind, to be eaten and copulate. An animated cartoon not necessarily made for kids .... Probably the only stamps that can be licked Paul. |

Quote: What do you think is wrong? It's up to Partime to explain why he posted it, but for me the "huh-ness" of the stamp is simply in the name of the site: Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. Just as the anthropomorphic frozen treats reminded Pollux of the film Sausage Party, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump reminded me of a film I saw recently: Zombieland: Double Tap. |

Thanks, Al, for clarifying the issue.
Your stamp, Scott US C146, the 2009 79c Zion National Park, shows a rock formation, and it bears the caption "Zion National Park, Utah".
The word "park" tells us that the stamp is about a place, even if I've never heard of "Utah".
Contrast that with Scott US 1068, the 1955 3¢ Old Man of the Mountain stamp.
I can quickly match the words "old man" to that craggy profile of a man's face - after all, evolutionary biology explains the survival advantage to humans who can quickly identify a human face - so I quickly understand that the stamp is about a shape.
Contrast that with Scott US C133, the 1999 48c Niagara Falls stamp.
The word "falls" (in the caption "Niagara Falls, New York") describes both the shape and the place, so Bob's My Uncle.
Now contrast all three with the caption "Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, AB".
As I did not grasp the meaning of "AB", the stamp is not (at my first glance) about a place.
And, as I did not see anything in that rock formation that resembled a smashed-in head, the stamp is also not (at my first glance) about a shape.
So the stamp makes me 'go' HUH???
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey (who wants to know why, in Pollux' frozen treats, one of those figures is so immediately 'male' and the other is so immediately 'female' ... no skirts, no bow-ties, no hair, and, yet, the gender assignment is instantaneous) |

The stamp on the left shows a guy in the high school chess club dressed as an ice cream cone, complete with codpiece, as he walks with the only girl who will talk to him. They're heading back to the '70s so she can return the green smock. The stamp on the right is just two straight dudes who are confident enough in their sexuality that they don't mind walking hand in hand. They are trying to appear Italian, but they're really from Southern North Dakota. edit: Pollux! Hi-ya! How-are-ya? |

In the Post-Canada brochure 'Details Sept 2019' these stamps are described as follows; 'The colourfull stamps featuring whimsical frozen treats, strolling hand in hand kindle nostalgia for hot summer days and reminds us that growing up should be filled with sweet memories'.
In my industrial design classes far already. The teacher has always made us understand that in advertising, the images are not always perceived by others as they are seen by you the designer. Personally, I would never have used this kind of anthropomorphic drawing for this community foundation. It is supposed to represent something childish and should not give way to the imagination, advertising of the 70s almost always contained subliminal images, in my opinion it is the case here. The correlation I made with the movie Sausage Party remains and I assume. For those who have never seen this movie, just watch the last ten minutes and you'll see the complete picture.

Outremer01 posted this extraordinary stamp in Lets see your Aviation Stamps. I need a proper topical name for this sort of stamp, eg, Shadows & Echoes & Transformations ... but that's clumsy. Q/ Any suggestions? And, by the way: Q/ What is that? A bat growing propellers? The aircraft's inner spirit? Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey |
