Here is an image of a stamp depicting an Egyptian mermaid holding a bouquet of lotus flowers, an African sacred ibis ( Threskiornis aethiopicus), and the Nile River, printed by lithography, and issued by Egypt on December 12, 1998 to commemorate "The Day of the Nile Inundation," Scott No. 1689, plus an image of a mosaic of an Egyptian woman holding a lotus. Note: Ancient Egyptians believed that the Nile flooded every year because of Isis's tears of sorrow for her dead husband, Osiris. - nethryk  |
