The Polonus Philatelic Society has been selling exhibition labels since 1940. At their November 12, 1943 meeting they distributed some very plain labels, all of which had a big black dot in the middle. One variety had a 1940s Polish label that promoted the use of gold and silver attached. Only 100 of these were sold. They also issued two other varieties, with two different actual postage stamps attached. Only 25 of each of these were made. As a result, these particular labels are among the rarest of all philatelic exhibition labels. It is unlikely that most collectors of these labels have ever seen them before, but now you can. Jim |

(discretely generating subliminal interest in the area in advance, as any modern firm would do these days).

If you are anywhere near Burlingame, San Francisco this weekend, then you will be at 'WESTPEX'. Here is a 'blast from the past' from this event, now in it's 59th year. |

Very beautiful items, Michael. It's a pity that my pocket only allows me to collect just Catalan cindys! |

This non-postal souvenir sheet was printed for the Nordia II Stamp Show in Helsinki held on April 26 - May 1, 1975. It was included in the entrance ticket price of 2.30 Finnish mk. 38,210 of the sheets were printed according to the Norma catalog (Finland). Sheet number (026465) is printed on the reverse side. |

The Park Forest Stamp Club issued a number of different "speaker cards," some of which were printed in very small quantities. There were reportedly only 50 of the below labels that were overprinted. Another very scarce philatelic exhibition label. Jim |

Way back in 1937, the Yakima Valley Stamp Club, in Toppenish, Washington, held their third annual banquet at the Filling Station Banquet Room. The meeting started at 7:30 p.m. on March 5. They overprinted blocks of four of Scott #785 with all of this information, and the stamps were attached to a card with the evening's program also on it. This is the only such label from this club that I've ever seen. It is not mentioned in the Fields and Picklo catalog. A handstamped number is in red on the back. This card is number 13, perhaps indicating that only a few dozen cards were ever made. Jim |
