An exhibition label? "No date? No price? No venue? No sponsor?" A curious exhibition label! If you're a guest... Why to print a price?
And, the translation:
"Guest International Philatelic Exhibition Centennial
La Habana"
To me. it's clear: a ticket not a label.
It's a pity that there's no one who knows about Cuban philately around. That, would settle the question.
But, you all are free to believe what you wish. This, ends the argument from my side!
It's yours, and you believe it's a label? It's a label!

Logically, if it is gummed and intended to be put on an envelope or package, it is a label. |

This one was posted on one of the early pages, but in the background, so not easily seen. KenMore Stamp Company seems to have printed a wide variety of Cinderellas using this pair. (I saw one or two that were not quite the same.) For the World Wide Philatelic Convention, The Centenary of Postage Stamps 1840-1940 in Detroit. |

Here are three "Bund Deutscher Philatelisten"/(West) German Philatelic Society labels for the 1956 MARPURGA stamp show and exhibition held in Marburg, Germany. The 1932 Marburg Castle charity stamp, on which the label design is based, is shown for comparison. |

Here is a pic of 4 stamps similar to the one posted by stampfan9, with the top selvage showing it was produced by Sennett Security Products, at the "Pacific 1997" World Philatelic Expo. I believe these were done to demonstrate their ability to add a digital photograph to a background and then print the stamp. Stampfan9's is only the 3rd one of these (mine included) I have seen in many years. I would think because of size of the show, that many collectors would have wanted to be pictured on a stamp, and there would have been more of these out there. Also, just curious if anybody would happen to know who is pictured on the stamp. |
