On January 1, 1942 Turkey issued this 37 kurus stamp (Sc #912) asa a part of its pictorial definitive series of that year. Stamp depicts the Victory Monument at Afyon in western Turkey. The monument commemorates Turkey's victory over its enemies in the 1922 War of Independence. The statue depicts two nude, male figures. A 'Hulk-like' victor stands over another brutal-looking combatant.

From researchgate.com, "(The) monument became the most distinct statue of the early republic, since the figures are all naked...However, it was the only major monument that the national and local press did not describe specifically as a statue of Ataturk, perhaps because, although the main figure of the monument resembles Ataturk, it is not obviously recognizable as him."
