"The Motherland Calls" is a monumental female allegorical statue created by Russian sculptor Evgeny Vouchetich (1908-1974) and Russian structural engineer Nikolay Nikitin (1907-1973). The statue, located in Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia, commemorates the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad. When the memorial was dedicated in 1967 it was the tallest sculpture in the world, measuring 87 meters (279 feet) from the tip of its sword to the top of the plinth. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a depiction of "Motherland" and fighters, designed by Russian artist Yuri Nikoláyevich Artsimenev (1937- ), printed by photogravure, and issued by Russia on June 21, 1971 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the International Federation of Resistance Fighters (FIR), Scott No. 3861, Zagorski No. 3941, plus a photo of the statue.

Folke Filbyter is the popularized name of the 11th century pagan progenitor of the Swedish House of Bjelbo clan. In the fictional epic Folkungaträdet ("The Tree of the Folkungs", 1905), by the Swedish writer Verner von Heidenstam (1859-1940), Folke Filbyter appears as a tragic scorned father who has returned from his Viking expeditions. Here is an image of a stamp depicting an equestrian statue of Folke Filbyter searching for his grandson, sculpted by Swedish sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955), and erected in Linköping, Sweden, designed by Swedish graphic artist Sven Höglind (1919-2002) after a photograph by A. Florén, engraved by Arne Wallhorn, and issued by Sweden on May 20, 1975, to commemorate Milles's birth centenary, Scott No. 1123, Facit No. 922, plus a photo of the statue.

The "Statue of the Victor" is a monument in the Kalemegdan fortress in Belgrade, erected in 1928 to commemorate the Kingdom of Serbia's war victories over the Ottoman Empire (First Balkan War) and Austria-Hungary (World War I). The statue, created by Croatian sculptor and architect Ivan Meštrovic (1883-1962), stands atop a column. In its left hand, the statue holds a falcon on watch for new threats on the horizon, and in the right hand, a sword of war, ready to counter these threats. Here is an image of a stamp depicting the statue and the coat of arms of Belgrade, designed by B. Lazarevic, engraved by Tanasije Krnjajic, and issued by Yugoslavia on October 20, 1964 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Liberation of Belgrade, Scott No. 749, plus a photo of the statue.
