A week or two ago I received from a dealer in the Netherlands a package of stamps for my French and topical photography collections. The envelope was mailed in mid December, registered and bore in addition to three conventional stamps, two heavy metallic foil stamps.

These are highly reflective, so that under an office incandescent or LED, or in sunlight, one can barely see that there are figures and words on them. Fortunately, they scan fairly well.

Both say Netherlands and "aangetekende," which is "registered."
The left one is of Jacob van Heemskerk, the explorer, and was very heavily scratched. The right is of Juliana, the former Queen, and arrived in much better shape although a corner was bent as you can see.

The foil is substantial, and resists being bent back flat. Kind of sharp, too. It also resists marking, the cancellations did not take well at all, just traces stuck. And it seems a marker monkey tried but failed to deface poor Heemskerk with a ball point that only scored the stamp.

I do not collect the Netherlands, so I do not have a catalogue at hand. I have googled a bit and checked in an online catalogue that shall not be named, but I cannot find these listed or represented anywhere.

As well as the adhesive plaster stamp already posted, Austria issued two other COVID-19 related stamps made from material.

That for the Combat Covid Campaign, issued 30 October 2020, shows the key distance marker (1m = one baby elephant) printed on reinforced toilet paper, a reference to the rush on the product in shops, and then, on 16 September 2021, the mini FFP2 mask made with two layers of non-woven embroidered fabric.
