Caves of Meghalava

The Caves of Meghalaya comprise a large number of limestone caves in the Jaintia, Khasi Hills and Garo Hills districts in the Indian state of Meghalaya, and are among the longest caves in the world.
The stamp set features Krem Blang, Krem Khung. Krem Syndai, and Krem Lymput caves.

The Cango Caves are located in Precambrian limestones at the foothills of the Swartberg range near the town of Oudtshoorn. Paintings and artifacts indicate that the caves were in use throughout prehistory over a long period during the Middle and Later Stone Ages.

Palace Cave (Gruta del Palacio) is located at Flores Department, near the city of Trinidad. The ferrified Late Cretaceous sandstone cave was first studied in 1877 and is currently a UNESCO Golbal Geopark.
