Hope you continue, because it appears you have a lot to offer.

I'm glad this thread was revived as I have always had curiosity about Memel.

Love the postmarks! Sadly, much of my Memel is mint.

I have a number of Memel stamps; I'll post them later in the week, if anyone's interested in viewing them.

Great thread / Information from BeeSee and Warrehouse.
Nice to re-visit.

Spotted an error..the second oblong stamp 80pf (slanting "Memel") is out of order.

If you are really interested in Memel, you may want to consider New Memel/Klaipeda Philatelic Handbook by Dr. John Neefus. I believe it is available as an e-book. I traded stamps with Dr. Neefus many years ago, and Memel and Danzig stamps were his passion.

I just downloaded the Handbook so I could find out more about forged overprints of Memel stamps. The very first thing I read was WRONG. It says the genuine overprints are lithographed, but forgers would use typography. But I know (from the Michel Specialized) that the genuine overprints are typographed, not lithographed. I wonder how many other IMPORTANT details are also wrong in this Handbook.

Hello,

Where can I find an explanation (reference) to identify a Typographed from Lithographed overprint ?
