Husbands And Wives Pictured Together On Postage Stamps

I was just thinking that this might be an interesting topical, as it seems to me there are few occasions in which both a husband and wife are honored to have their image on the same stamp. This is one of the few from the US:



Of course, in some other countries, Royal marriages, etc., may make such stamps more commonplace.

Let's see what we can come up with.

Italy, royal wedding...

Using royalty is almost cheating...leave out royalty and this topic would be a bit more difficult...

Here are a couple of non-Royalty husband and wife entertainers that were depicted on US stamps (taken from a USPS publicity image of the stamps; thus the reason for the line through the denominations):

Not strictly on a stamp ... well, not a stamp at all, but on an Indian Bazaar Card, used from Jaipur State around a century ago:

This topic is certainly made much more difficult if one excludes royals!

Jón Sigurðsson (1811-1879), often referred to as President ("Jón forseti") by Icelanders, was the leader of the 19th century Icelandic independence movement. The home of Sigurðsson and his wife (and cousin), Ingibjörg Einarsdóttir (1804-1879), was a center for all Icelanders in Copenhagen, Denmark. The couple had no children except for one foster-son who was Jón's nephew. However, a contemporary remarked that "all Icelanders are their children". Jón's birthday, June 17, was chosen as independent Iceland's National Holiday. Here is an image of a stamp depicting portraits of Sigurðsson and Einarsdóttir, designed by Icelandic graphic artist Þröstur Magnússon, engraved by Eugène Lacaque, and issued by Iceland on November 1, 1979, Scott No. 517, Facit No. 582.

Here is an image of a semi-postal stamp depicting Marie Sklodowska-Curie (1867-1934), a Polish-born French physicist and chemist, and her husband Pierre Curie (1859-1906), a French physicist, famous for their pioneering research on radioactivity for which they shared (along with Henri Becquerel) the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics, designed by French artist Joseph de la Nézière (1873-1944), engraved by Jules Piel, and issued by France on September 1, 1938 to benefit the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), Scott No. B76, Y&T No. 402.
