Architect James Hoban, who emigrated from Ireland in 1785 won the architectural competition to design the White House. Ireland and the US in 1981 issued stamps to honor Hoban. The US version of 18 cents was printed prior to the rate change of 20 cents and both stamps were released on October 13, 1981.

Anybody has the Irish stamp? Are there more stamps like this? Same stamp different value?

This is confusing to me. Do you mean that we should post joint issue stamps or stamps that were issued by the same country twice only with a different vale the second time due to postal rate changes? If I said that right?

Puzzler,

thanks for posting the stamp. I will try to get one of these Irish stamps since I have the other two.

I got to thinking about your question. I think both cases individually would work. I really do not think there is another case like this...but who knows.

You really answered my question with the Irish stamp.

Let's look at it tomorrow again..

The US issued the Greetings from America set of 50 stamps x 34 cents on 4th April 2002, and re-issued the set on 25th October 2002 with the denomination of 37 cents, due to a rise in postal rates.

I agree you can look at this thread several ways. Since color wasn't indicated as an issue, then these US Definitives would qualify as "same stamp, different value":

Another one (if color isn't an issue):

(1) First Class Rate; (2) Postcard Rate; (3) Presort Rate. All of the same design, just different colors to distinguish them apart:

22crows...thank you very much
here is an example of what you are talking about

I have the 37 cent set but none for 34 cents.

wt1, what you think? are the stamps you posted in this category?

Interesting...Thanks to you both.

Again, without the term "color" used in the description, the sky could be the limit in possible examples.

In fact, we could go back as far as the Washington/Franklin Series (or even to the earlier Banknote Issues) and come up with a multitude of different values on the same basic stamp design in which only the color and printed denomination distinguishes the different values.

Maybe we just need to clarify the color thing.

This would seem to fit the category ... and to think I haven't even looked at all of my US Postage Due Stamps!

Yes wt1,

we should clarify. Exactly the same stamps. Same color, like your green ones.

I check my stamps today to see if I have some and maybe we do find
multiple countries. Thanks for responding.

I need to hurry up before someone beats me to it.
Look at all of these. Maybe someone printed these in their garage.

and the last one

Wow, how lucky can I get. The Austrian album was the first one I grabbed this morning. I had no idea when I started this. That
stimulating of my stamping activities I just love.

I think Londonbus1 choose his avatar because he likes to take people on a stamping site seeing tour.

Canada also issued a design that had 2 different values. I don't have picture handy bu there is an issue showing a Tank (1941 I believe) which is the exact same design but came in 13c & 14c.

I guess I would call it "same design, different value" which is common with regular postage but also postage due, revenue, some of the airmail.
