This small (72mm wide x 73.5mm high) cinderella souvenir sheet commemorates the 125th anniversary of Swiss Railways. It has an offset-printed "cancel" of the INTEBA Stamp Exhibition in Zurich 23.4.1972. Inscription on the sheet says "8th International Exhibition of the FISAIC Railroaders". FISAIC is the International Federation of Cultural and Leisure Associations of Railwaymen. It is an Eurocentric organization.  |

On March 21, 1963 Switzerland issued this 20 centime Stamp (Sc #424) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Bern-Loetschberg-Simplon Railway Company. The Company operated from 1913 to 2006. Stamp depicts a passenger train moving over a tall viaduct. From wikipedia, "The Bern-Loetschberg-Simplon railway (BLS) was the largest standard gauge network on the Swiss railway system apart from the Swiss Federal Railways...being considered the largest of the Swiss 'private' railways, although the majority of its capital was owned by the cantonal government of Bern."  |

In 1944 Iran issued this 25 dinar, violet stamp (Sc #883) depicting a train crossing a bridge as a part of its pictorial definitive series of 1942-6 (34 stamps).  |

This June 11, 2005, 3 litas stamp (Sc #793) of Lithuania depicts a modern electric train emerging from the Kaunas railway tunnel (completed in 1862). Black and white photo shows tunnel under original construction. From wikipedia, "Kaunas railway tunnel is one of the two railway tunnels existing in Lithuania and the only railway tunnel operating in the Baltic States. The length of the tunnel is 1285 meters (.803 miles). Kaunas railway tunnel was built from 1859 till 1861."   |
