Here is the 15c value (Sc #251) from North Borneo's KGVI 1950 pictorial definitive series. Stamp depicts a small, traditional Malay boat and is inscribed "native prahu at Sandakan". Sandakan is a port city on the northeast coast of the island.

From gluedideas.com, "The kakap prahu is a small light boat, provided with a rudder oar, but with no other oars or sculls. It carries only one mast, with a single quadrangular sail."

On May 17, 1989 New Zealand issued a six-value set of stamps as the 2nd issue of its "NZ Heritage" series. The 80c value (SG #1508) of the set features whaling, and depicts a whaleboat.

From wikipedia, "A whaleboat or whaler is a type of open boat that is relatively narrow and pointed at both ends. It was originally developed for whaling, and later became popular for work along beaches, since it does not have to be turned around for beaching or refloating."
