On June16, 2015 Malta issued a set of three stamps recognizing the country's National Feasts/Events. The 59c value (SG #1919) depicts the Annual Regatta, a rowing competition.

From sportmalta.org.mt website, "The Regatta is a traditional rowing event that has been held in Malta since the Middle Ages. The first professional Rowing Challenge started in 1955."

The 10c value (SG #910) from Malta's 1991 National Heritage set of 12 stamps shows sailboarders or windsurfers on Mellieha Bay.

In 1941 the Vichy authorities in France issued a set of two stamps (identical design) depicting Noumea Harbor for New Caledonia. Here is the 1F value (Sc #216B) from the set.

Here is the 20c value (SG #157) from the Malaysian state of Perak's 1957-61 pictorial definitive series. The stamp shows the inset portrait of Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah and traditional fishing boat, or proa. There does not appear to be an outrigger, and the boat has a square boom lug such as is used in the Gulf of Thailand.

The 6d value (SG #224) of Western Samoa's 1952 pictorial definitive series shows a Va'a, or bonito canoe.

From indigenousboats.blogspot.com, "...these were used for bonito fishing, and they were considered essential accouterments of chiefs and other high-ranking Samoans."

Rafts are the most basic watercraft. This 50c value (Sc #355) from Jamaica's June 5, 1972 pictorial set of 15 depicts a bamboo raft. River rafting in Jamaica is most commonly done by visitors on the Martha Brae River. The rafts are 30 ft. bamboo craft designed for two seated passengers, and piloted by an experienced, standing guide.

From islandroutes.comm, "...sit back and relax in your personal raft as your captain skillfully navigates the jade green waters of the Martha Brae River."

A small dhow with outriggers is depicted on this 1936 one shilling definitive stamp (Sc #209) of Zanzibar.

From africageographic.com, "...the Swahili word 'dhow' is a generic term for the pre-European ships of the Indian Ocean. Traditionally these dhows were sewn together using coconut coir (fiber) - a medieval practice born of the belief that magnets under the sea would suck any nails out of the vessel."

The 50c value (Sc #324) from Ceylon's 1954 Local Scenes definitive set depicts a dhow with a single outrigger. Stamp was issued on March 15, 1954.
