A junk is a type of Chinese sailing boat characterized by a central rudder, an overhanging flat transom, watertight bulkheads, and a flat-bottomed design. Here is a stamp issued for use in French Indochina in 1931 as one in seven identical definitive stamps shows Junk used in Vietnam:  Two of the stamps were overprinted "SERVICE" and reissued in 1933:  Registered cover sent from Pakse, Laos to Italy in 1935 franked with four copies of one of the Junk stamps.
