However, it was not the first US stamp depicting living persons.

At least in 1932, in the set commemorating the Sumer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, one stamps presented a sprinter at the start position. Ther stamp design was made after a photograph of Jeremiah Alfred Le Coney, a US sprinter who was a winner of the gold medal in the 4x100 meter relay race at the 1924 Summer Olympics.

This personalized postage stamp (Marke Individuell) of Germany looks to have been used by the Fuchs Company. Fuchs is a manufacturer of high performance automotive and industrial lubricants, and it is a long-time sponsor of the Black Falcon Racing Team, pictured here. At the time of this stamp's usage, Black Falcon was racing Mercedes cars. Currently, they appear to have added Porsches to their racing usage.

From snaplap.net, "Team Black Falcon is a racing team from Meuspath, Germany founded by Alexander Boehm, Marc Schramm, and Marvin Wagner in January of 2006."

I'm not sure if Great Britain had a specific ban on depicting living persons on stamps apart from the royal family, and if so, when it was lifted, but the earliest example I could find of a real, recognizable person, and not a generic depiction of someone in a profession was not issued until 2005 and shows the cricket team that won the ashes that year

Hello.
In Spain it is not possible to reflect live people on the stamps, with the exception of the Royal Family and the Pope, who is also the Head of the Vatican State.
When there's an event to commemorate, they use the block. There are many examples, such as this.
Regards.

Not exactly so - it's a formal rule that is not strictly followed

In 2012, the Spanish Post commemorated the centennial anniversary of the national Olympic Committee. One of the stamps presents uan Antonio Samaranch y Torelló, 1st Marquess of Samaranch, the ex-President of the IOC:

Though you are right - in most cases souvenir sheets are used:

Miguel Induráin Larraya in 2000

Ińaki Urdangarin Liebaert in 2002 (though he's a kind of royal now

2004 Davis Cup winners - Juan Carlos Ferrero Donat, Carlos Moya Llompart Alex Corretja I Verdegay and Feliciano Lopez Diaz-Guerra in 2004

Pau Gasol Saez and Rafael Nadal Parera in 2006

All above named are Spanish Olympians
