Beautiful stamp Fifia - it might be a phoenix However, they are welcome in this topic. According to Merriam-Webster's encyclopedia of world religions (via Wikipedia): "It is the one of the most-respected legendary creatures in China and the feminine counterpart to the dragon." Bingo! |

Nice cover Steve, I remember the news story about everyone trying to get married on 08-08-08. These cancels are a topic in themselves. I suppose 12-12-12 next is the last one this century! Hi Akeela, would be nice to have that connection, but I think this is just marketing by Thailand Post. They used the same line on the Rabbit cover last year. I think they are emphasising the zodiac/celestial aspect of the whole series. Overall I think the designs are good. Rod, what was the header stamp used for - heading on a page? Thanks for the link johnstamp, I have a set of those coming from ebay. |

In Germany the word dragon translates into Drachen and has also the meaning of a kite. Usually, at least this was true when I was a kid, in fall we would fly kites. Here is a Chinese stamp reflecting that subject. Issued 1963. and one from Argentina 1983 - 1984 |
