In my country Firemen are volunteers, i.e. do not receive any payment for his services to the community.
Many fire brigades (called here "Compañías") were founded by people of different nationalities who have come to this country to live during the course of the years.
And then there are the French Company, Italy, England, Spain, Israel, German, etc, etc.

This is a cinderella issued by the Italian Company when it celebrated 50 years (in 1964):

Here are images of the two stamps in a set publicizing fire protection, printed by lithogravure, and issued by Bulgaria in 1970, Scott Nos. 1905 & 1906.

Fire engine LF15 and firemen, 1919, designed by German illustrator Lutz Lüders, printed by lithography, and issued by East Germany (DDR) on June 16, 1987 as one of a set of four stamps honoring fire fighters, Scott No. 2615, Michel No. 3103.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting emblems of the French Civil Defense and Fire Brigades, designed by French artist Robert Louis (1902-1965), engraved by André Frères, and issued by France on February 8, 1964, Scott No. 1082, Y&T No. 1404.

Fireman and firefighting equipment, designed by Uruguayan graphic artist Ángel Medina (1914-1980), printed by lithography, and issued by Uruguay on October 21, 1966 to honor its National Fire Brigade, Scott No. 735.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a 17th century firefighter holding a fire extinguisher pump, designed by Austrian artist Prof. Johannes Kral, printed by photogravure, and issued by Austria on September 3, 1986 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Vienna Fire Brigade, Scott No. 1367.
