Panagra was formed by Pan Am & W.R Grace & Company by the merger of Peruvian Airways and Chilean Airlines on 13/Sep/1928 and commenced operations on 12/Oct/1929. The mail contract was awarded to the airline for the route between the Canal Zone and Argentina. It was the first US operator of Fairchild F2-2W in 1929. In 1937 the airline purchased DC3's to replace the Ford Tri-motors. The Braniff International – Panagra merger completed on 01/Feb/1967

Central African Airways (CAA) was formed on 01Jun1946 as the joint airline of Southern Rhodesia (later Rhodesia; now Zimbabwe), Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) and Nyasaland (now Malawi). It started operations with a mixture of ex-SRAS (Southern Rhodesia Air Services) aircraft. Attempted to start Salisbury-London flights using Viking aircraft but a fatal crash in Tanganyika caused the Vikings to be grounded. BAC 1-11 aircraft were ordered in 1962. Succeeded by Air Malawi, Zambia Airways, Air Rhodesia and Ghana Airways after the breakup of the Central African Federation. It was officially dissolved on 31Dec1967


CPA (Canadian Pacific Airlines) was formed on 16May1942 when C P Railway Co. purchased ten bush airlines in a short time span, (Ginger Coote Airways, Southern Air Transport, Wings, Prairie Airways, Mackenzie Air Services, Arrow Airways, Starratt Airways, Quebec Airways and Montreal & Dominion Skyways finishing with the purchase of Canadian Airways). On July 1, 1942, only six weeks after its formation, CPA began operations. Renamed to CP Air in 1968
