Hi TinMan,
The old (and slower) method of revealing or clarifying unclear written or printed text was to photograph the material through deep red or infra red filters using black and white or Infra red sensitive film. After developing and printing to further enhance the image the results could be read. This method was used to detect and clarify text and signatures and to determine fraud and forgery. My granddaughter, who is studying Forensic Science, assures me that Police and Forensic methods have moved on somewhat since the 'old days' and are right up there with digital and computer enhancement. That was me told.

Thanks Don! Simplified it down and even though I've played with it a little I never thought about right clicking. I always wondered how to save it directly as a jpg. |

Just took a peek and I see RetroReveal is still down. CHecked the other thread and good to see at least some emails have been responded to. |

Just noticed that retroreveal.com now has a log in screen... I have been trying to log on but since I never wrote down my old log-on info, I may need to re-register. Thing is, I'd really like to know 100% that this is the same group that put together the original Retro Reveal and not some data miner, etc. Anyone know for sure? Instead, I just used https://www.postmark-reveal.com/. But I am curious if the original is back up again. |

Hi Nells, No, it is NOT the same. I believe it is a site which is monetizing personal information. Don Edit: I posted this on the other thread back in November Quote: All, The link listed directly above is NOT the original Retroreveal nor is a earlier version of it. It is a new site (hosted on GoDaddy! LOL) with no indication of who owns it, what they are doing with the personal info you give them to get an 'account'. Out of safety, I have removed the link and recommend that folks give this some time until we all better understand what is going on with this site. I am dubious that whoever set this up has chosen to make it appear similar to the original site, has no Terms and Conditions or Privacy Policy, and has chosen to not have ANY indication of what they are doing with user information. Remember, if a website is free then chances are good that YOU are the product. Don |

Don, I believe that https://www.postmark-reveal.com is PostamasterGS's site. The site that you previously warned about is retroreveal.com - feel free to delete the link if you prefer. Clive |

There is more than a little confusion here.
The original website in question was retroreveal.ORG not retroreveal.COM (see original post in this thread).
Completely different domain names. I have no idea what the latter is. The former is still unreachable. |

Clive, My quote above came from the other 'retroreveal' thread here http://goscf.com/t/81071So when the quote said "The link listed directly above is NOT..." it was not reffering to PostmasterGS's site. But rather the questionable 'new' retroreveal.com site. Sorry for any confusion, I was trying to avoid linking the dubious 'new' retroreveal.com site. Don |
