SG253
Lilac or mauve
both known as "imperf between pairs"

Stanley Gibbons fails to price them
so I presume rather rare?

Exquisitely nice Same

Found this on an auction site:

Scroll down to Lots 184 and 185 for some info: Not exactly the same but mentions imperf on left side for a pair.

http://www.prestigephilately.com/ca...centen&lim=0

This second link actually has an imperf pair. Lot 778.

yes,

the pair Millenium sold was on Crown NSW watermarked paper.

If this pair is on thick no watermarked paper then it from a Printed to Private Order Postal Stationery Envelope. The blank envelopes were handed to the Post Office requesting certain values and even though a 2d. was available they often used 2 x 1d.

If you show a scan of the back of the pair it should show the watermark if it is Crown NSW,

Okka
