This issue is prone to many varieties - One not listed is the cat on the hot tin roof which is basically a small brown cat shaped spot on the highest left side roof. Not sure if this will show up close enough but it has a 4 different things on or around the roof. The one hanging off the front looks like a stretched out rubber chicken. My shrink says I see odd stuff on them blotted paper tests too.
Another case of 3 nice stamps on cover with no signs of a cancel at all.

It`s listed in the Darnell catalogue as 823d.
Why is it if the black is shifted left, right
or down a little...nothing...but shifted a
little up and...WOW...cat on hot tin roof variety.
Very, very common.

Here's what I see:
- the apparent image shift to the left into the left perfs,
- mis-registarion of the brown, green and orange colours.
- this stamp is also shifted diagonally down to the left.
This can be seen by measuring the distamces between the top left and bottom left corners of the image to the right perfs.
- The black ink is the only thing printed completely horizontal.

The 12c stamp has been affixed on top of the 50c stamp, giving the impression that the 50c stamp perfs have shifted ... but that is not the case.

Yes the other stamp overlaps. I have a bunch of these with everything from dented bumper. license plate and even more extreme shifts of the brown linework. Odd that 723 has no varieties on same stamp but quality control must have been on vacation or the brown ink was a nightmare to print.
