I am starting to look for these foldout type postcards that were popular in the mid 1900s..was wondering if anyone shares similar interests ?

Wow, theres at least two of us ! I do much prefer the postally used..i love it when I can find one postally used in a postcard dealers 25 cent box..i think the card dealers consider them weeds and put them at the back of boxes...fine with me ! I have a full day today but have more of them to show, probably this evening ! |

Phil I quite like the use of the Crippled Children labels on the first image. I've got this souvenir package from Indiana...Hammond Indiana to be exact. Picked it up in an auction lot a few weeks ago. It folds out into 18 panels (including this cover). It is NOT postal, as there is no place for an address or stamp, and is printed on a heavy paper as opposed to card stock. But it is of the same genre as the pieces you are showing off. I don't know what to do with it, so philb, if you would like it for your collection, PM me your address and I'll send it down to you. Needs a good home. Here's a couple of more of the panels. Definitely 1930s or 40s, judging by the 48 star flags and the autos in some of the pictures. |

The best places I have found for these are 2nd hand stores, they price them quite low. |

I'm ¼ Mohawk "Indian" so I really like it. I don't collect those types of PC's however. I really enjoyed seeing those! Thank You! |

I don't collect them Phil, but I've seen a few of them along the way -- and of course, I remember them from when I was a kid.
They're always very interesting. I like the colors and "style" of the artwork.

I like to collect those LARGE LETTER postcards but they're harder to find and costly compared to the Souvenir Foldouts. I found a hoard of foldouts at a postcard show in Montreal recently..at .50 cents a pop..couldn't resist. I prefer the non postally used ones..they're cleaner and intact. Some large letter postcards: ] Part one of foldout scans: ] |
