I have an interest in some topical collecting of fishing on stamps, either commercial or sport fishing. I tried to goggle this to see if there was a site about it but didn't come up with anything like I have with other topics. I guess if that means there is not much in this area?

Hi BradS
There are collectors that collect fishing on stamps. In fact, my wife is one as well. Regarding the topic itself, a lot of the stamps are listed often under the plain 'fish' category in some groups.
I am not sure if the ATA handbook on topics with fish list the actual sport or not.

Sport fishing Romania 1962, set of 8 stamps: Many East-European countries issued stamps in this topic, these were the first I knew where to find them (but I`m sure somewhere I have fishing stamps from Hungary, Soviet Union, Poland, Vietnam etc.) |

Hi Brad, There's a decent 'fishing' theme on another thread on another stamp community online, on which I posted these just yesterday; SG275, the 8c King George VI definitive entitled 'Casting Net' The stamp was then reprised for the arrival of QEII as SG295 and changed from blue to brown I'm sure if you search for 'nethryk' in a well known search engine you'll soon find the other board . I would suggest JonEBoy but there are too many Jon's out there and Google hates me The aim is to get as many 'fishing' stamps on this month as we can find. Both nethryk and I are adding to it daily so you might see some that are suitable for your collection? Jon |

I like the stamps you posted, I am finding there are quite a few with fishing as a topic. I think I know the site you mentioned I will take a look. |

Wonderful engraved stamp thank you for sharing. The information you have about the stamp and it's design is also very interesting. |

That 1971 Austria is great. I suspect he may be holding a rod with a spinning reel. Thoughts? Nice engraving work, nice scanning work.
The QEII Bahamas set is a sharp set, as were many of the early QEII colonials. The tuna fishing 5sh is one of my favorite of all of the early QEII colonials. |
