OK, we have threads for stamps-on-stamps, mailboxes, and mailmen. The stamps below make me think maybe, just maybe, we now need a thread for ENVELOPES ON STAMPS!

I'd venture to guess that a lot of US collectors forgot about this odd value stamp that fits this thread perfectly! |

Quote: WT1 - was that a real stamp?? It sure was ... although the 21.1 cents met the rate for those mass mailers using the ZIP+4 extended ZIP Codes they recently came out with at the time. Lookup Scott #2150, issued 10/22/1985. According to the link below it was the first US multicolor gravure coil stamp. I agree the stamp is quite odd looking by today's standards and I don't think it saw all that much use back in the day. More info. at this link: http://arago.si.edu/index.asp?con=1...&tid=2038810 |

I figure some folks may also be picky, and feel envelopes without stamps dont' belong in the stamp-on-stamp thread!

Also don't forget the 1973 US Postal People Issue. Although several stamps in that set feature envelopes to various degrees, I suspect one could argue that this stamp features more envelopes on it than any other stamp ever issued! |
