Whenever I see this stamp,I can't help but think that Quebec author Philippe-Joseph Aubert de Gaspé certainly had a lot on his mind!

He was probably musing over his novel "Les Anciens Canadiens" (1863) which was, according to Wikipedia, the most popular book ever published in Quebec.

The 70s were not very good for Canada Post. My submission is Scott 611.

I just assume a manager somewhere noted there was an excess of blue ink, and directed someone to figure out how to use it up.

Okay, so, here's another totally ugly Canadian stamp(s).

Looks like a gaudy-coloured pillow fight!
It's confusing and illegible!
What are they yelling about?
Was Louis Riel an opera singer

Louis Riel was hanged for leading a rebellion against the Canadian Government

The issue is "Canadian Opera" not "Canadian Opera Singers."

Louis Riel is generally considered the most famous Canadian Opera to date written for the 1967 Centennial. And yes in this three act opera, the titular character is hanged in the final act.

As to ugly stamps from Canada, there are some semi-postals that are rough, especially one subject. As to childish designs mentioned (years) earlier in the thread there are some of those as well. However as they are sold for good causes, I will leave it there.

EDIT: Yes, I am going there....twice

1. I store my some of my Canadian semi-postals in a stock book or in mounts in an album to insure the mental health stamp remain unhinged.

2. While I know I decrease their value, I believe hinged is better than unhinged for the mental health stamp issues.

I don't know, but I kind of like the opera issue precisely because it looks like a "Looks like a gaudy-coloured pillow fight".
