Mrita75 - Why do you think that it is a 579?

Edit: Before you start throwing money at NYStamps you should do some research. SCF search engine is a great place to start.

I will triple check- however with 322K positive reviews - Are they really a SCAM? It would seem that they would not have a near 100% satisfaction with over 300 thousand reviews if they sold un checked/incorrect stamps? How are they still doing business -that is so sad :(

Well if it is not a 579, I can return for full refund. Thank you.

Edit: As a new collector, I also assume I will make mistakes along the way - I am sure others make mistakes and that is how they learn (even the most experienced collectors). My intention is not to "throw money" - I use the search VERY often on this site and have learned a great deal. I did not search for NYStamps until you pointed it out. Now I know for the future. As a new and young collector - I am trying to stay positive and feel accepted.

Rod222 asks about philatelic covers.

I wonder where Philatelists draw the line?

Each collector draws the line in a slightly different place - like judging pornography. It is a can of worms I won't open here.

I have a wonderful swag of letters from europe, including one with a possible address to a president, but my scanning skills are graded at 10 so here's a pic of a lovely BCOF

and the mighty Kauri that features in this 1940 picture.Such a stunning tree and so sad to see its demise here in New Zealand with the Kauri Die Back disease that has spread rabidly across the country.

Its counterpart the mighty Tane Mahuta ( Man of the Forest)

I collect Switzerland used stamps. Getting charity (or "semi-postals" as Scott names them) Swiss used stamps is not easy. So, when I saw this cover for a good price, I took it. I don't care wether is philatelic or not; it has actually gone through the mail (it has an arrival pm on the back). I don't collect Swiss postal history!

As for "like judging pornography. It is a can of worms I won't open here" I prefer to stick on philately and not go to politics...

"Philatelic Covers"
The fine line....and does it really matter?
For me, I think not.

I was considering my huge carton of Stamp Mounts from Canada.
Plastered one side with huge Souvenir sheets of the Blue Whale and the Moose.etc.
Would that be Philatelic? I muse.
Whatever, it is rather wonderful, but hard to mount.

Perhaps the line to draw, is exhibition material showing correct rate usage etc.

After almost 3 decades, I rediscovered my favorite hobby last November. Nothing too crazy expensive... yet.

Just love the design on this beauty... I might even have it printed on a large canvas for my office.

loverarestamps.

294 has always been one of my favorite stamps. Not an uncommon stamp by any means, but the contrast between the scarlet and black is hard to beat. Nice design too. This site is a great place for info on stamps in general and vendors in particular.

A 1864(i think)cover from Washington DC to Nelson New Hampshire with a Star with circle in the center cancel. Unfortunately no Nelson arrival postmark.

An E3 on cover, picked this up from one of our member here, paperhistory. Thanks Matt! I did watch a few weeks before I finally pushed the BIN.

Another Eureka, Cal cover, kinda beat but that oval Registered postmark is a new Latest known use.
