CHILE 1952 Isabella I (1451 – 1504), also called Isabella the Catholic was Queen of Castile and León from 1474 until her death in 1504. She was also Queen of Aragon from 1479 until her death as the wife of King Ferdinand II. Isabella and Ferdinand are known for being the first monarchs to be referred to as the queen and king of Spain, respectively. Their actions included completion of the Reconquista, initiating the Spanish Inquisition and financing Christopher Columbus's 1492 voyage to the New World. Stamp engraved by José Moreno B. Anna Alexandrovna Timofeeva-Egorova (1916 – 2009) A postal stationery envelope was issued to commemorate her 100th birth anniversary. A pilot in the Soviet Air Force during the Second World War. She flew a total of 277 sorties that included liaison, reconnaissance, and ground-attack missions. In late 1942, she became the first female pilot to fly the famous Sturmovik (ground attack). That plane played a major role in the ground battles of the Eastern Front. In the summer of 1944, being shot down, severely injured, and taken prisoner by the Germans. In 1965, she was awarded the title of "Hero of the Soviet Union". |

Jeana Lee Yeager (1952 - ) An American aviator co-piloted, along with Dick Rutan, the first non-stop, non-refueled flight around the world in the Rutan Voyager aircraft from December 14 to 23, 1986. The flight took 9 days and covered 40,211 km. |
