@Turbo, Quote: ...im not sure about the give away rules... there are no rules as such, the one who initiates the giveaway determines the conditions (first to come, draw name out of a hat etc.). Your name will be put in a hat together with the name of all those who are interested, the winner will be drawn next sunday. Klaus |

Hi all,
today I'm upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 8, then all software has to be re-installed. Should there be a problem, I possibly can't announce the winner on Sunday, in which case I'll do that on Tuesday from work.

Hi all, all went fine. Layout is very different, so for the time being it's a lot of looking where things are hidden Klaus |

Klaus if you find you don't like or can't navigate windows 8. You can download a free program that will run windows 8 just like windows 7 called "Classic Shell" Just type that into your search engine. I run "Classic Shell". Then for my email I run "Mozilla Thunderbird" and for Internet "Firefox" I have used this for a year now with no problems. I hated windows 8. |

@TinMan,
thanks for the pointer. It's not that I don't like the 8, it's more that I, my wife and daughter have to get used to the different features, different icons. I'm slowly getting a grip on this so I can start explaining how things work and where what is. Fortunately, the 8.1 has the same (optional) familiar desktop as the XP, and since we are not running games and such, the display driver provided is sufficient.
