Oh well - not allowed to e-mail you because I do not have enough posts.
Rules are rules. Just send the stamp to someone else who needs it.

I received home addresses from most of the people and I'll be sending things out this upcoming weekend. I still have a few more copies, so interested people please email me. |

Very generous, partite. Got a couple already so I'll pass. You should compare them and see if you can find different 'notch' sizes. As the plate was used the gap widened. There's a thread about it here (or somewhere on the inter web...) |

I would love a broken hat 231! It would fill in one more hole. However, I don't have 50 posts yet, so I can't e-mail you. I assume that's the only way? |

Quote: As the plate was used the gap widened. As I understand it, there were several positions with a "broken hat", so I would assume that each of these positions would show some type of unique birth and growth of the crack. I'll try to get at least (2) to each of the "winners" with different gaps, if at all possible. |

An used stamp, really circulated, has its own pluses (and minuses) over an unused stamp.
If I were to get an unused American stamp, of any kind and any value, my personal philatelic attraction would be to create a maximum card with it. Other countries have stamps valid for postage for only a few years (5 or so), but not USA!
What if I don't find a concordant postcard for the stamp? Well, I can always design and order such a custom postcard.
Anyway, bravo for your generous giveaway, which can create philatelic conversations and friendship! :) |

Quote: I cant wait to see these. Well, don't get your hopes up too high. As others have stated, these are relatively common, mostly because of the sheer volume of these stamps that were made. I have sent everyone that replied at least (2) used copies, plus some other examples ... either the standard version or the broken frame line version. Mostly to see the color differences, etc. I didn't have enough double transfers to be fair to everyone and I'm keeping my MNH version I'll have to look through the rest to see what extras I have. Maybe another giveaway in the future... |
