The one potential issue with this series is that these do often come with large margins, but it does seem unlikely that someone would deliberately fake sewing machine perfs (and pretty difficult to do as well).

Very nice. I like that sewing machine perf proprietary. I'm surprised that more have not been reported of some of these items.

In my last post, I didn't mention who the Pillar of the Community was; it's to all who posted here who are a "Pillar of the Community.

I am thrilled with the educational and professional comments as well as the Pictures! Thanks again guys.

Dredging this thread up from the depths as apparently the Philatelic Foundation has certified another example of R115 perforated 8, which lends credence to the example Jim posted earlier in this thread.

Certificate #539324

SIGH!

This forum software mangles the actual URL and won't make it link, and if I try to use a Bitly ShortURL or any other type of URL shortener, apparently those are banned here. You'll have to go to pfsearch.org and look for it yourself.

UPDATE: Here is a screenshot.

I was the one lucky enough to pluck this R115 out of a lot I bought on eBay.

I wrote to the editors of Scott's catalog and they replied that it will be listed in the next Specialized.

Jim,

A census count of 2 is still pretty damned good IMO.

Anybody know of any other copies?

1Typesetter,

Did Scott indicate what value they would be assigning to this variety by any chance? Or are they going to use their famous dash?

Jim

Jim,

No they didn't. In fact when I went back to the email they sent me, I realized this is exactly what they said:
We will include this for possible listing in the 2018 edition of the Scott U.S. Specialized catalog.

I would almost bet that there won't be an assigned value if they do list it.

Tom

Thanks Tom,

Could you send me your email address please? I'd like to ask a question off board.

Thanks

Jim

Unless it sells at auction, any value put on it would only be a guess. So it's better to leave it with a dash until such time as it does get sold publicly.

The 2018 Scott has revised the listings for R112 and R115 and now lists the imperf examples.

Thread bump! This looks interesting to me, especially from the back. Just picked it out of a stock book at the Asheville bourse today. Any chance it could be another sewing machine perf?

That looks to me more like irregularly torn than sewing machine perfs. There's no regularity along any of the 4 sides of anything resembling the "soft" perfs of privately rouletted/sewing machine perfs. It's definitely not the "hard" perfed version.
