Here we go again. ''

Canada Post issued a six stamp pane ($5.10), a six stamp "permanent" booklet ($5.10), 6 different rolls of 50 coil "permanent" stamps ($42.50 per roll), a set of six $2.50 souvenir sheets ($15.00 and you have to buy the complete set), an OFDC with the six different coil stamps ($5.10), but no OFDC with the booklet stamps or the six stamp souvenir sheet, a set of six postcards ($15.00), a collectors album with coins ($99.95), six different signed and numbered limited edition (10,000 !) prints ($179.95 and $249.95) and six different coil roll dispensers.

My local post office received only 10 booklets, nothing else.

Here are some photos I took from a catalogue Canada Post sent to dealers/vendors and some scans from the Canada Post web site, with my editing where one stamp partially covered another.

I'm guessing the title is meant to be NHL? Not NFL

Bobby Orr was one of the greatest NHL players, but it is ridiculous to include him in this "original six" series. Just look at his hair style compared to the rest, he is obviously out of place!

Orr's rookie year was the last year of the "original six", and the rest of his great career took place during the years of expansion, from six teams to twelve, to fourteen and then eighteen.

The other five players played the majority of their games before 1967 and therefore belong in the group.

A more appropriate choice would have been Leo Boivin, who anchored the Boston Bruins defense from 1954 to 1966.

Another great Bruins defenceman, Eddie Shore, cannot be included, because most of his career was before the "original six".

I picked up a Canada Post "Give Something Special" publication today.

On page 8, I was surprised to see that Canada Post now places a value on its collectibles as well as face value. The average signed souvenir sheet NFL $2.50 stamp is expected to be $100.00. Guess I'll have to run out and buy up as many $15.00 packs as possible.

This is the first time I've seen this and think that it's a bad thing to do. Of course, if Canada Post CAN correctly predict the future value of its products, I hope they'll do it for all new issues and define the time frame as well. LOL

Interesting. I see in the small print "No purchase necessary." How can that be? Maybe you can just ask for one!

It also says "Promotional offer ends December 31, 2014." Does that mean the packs will be taken off sale then?
