Happy Birthday to Swiss businessman and social activist Jean Henri Dunant (1828-1910), founder of the Red Cross, and the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (together with Frédéric Passy, 1901). Here is an image of an engraved stamp featuring a portrait of Dunant, designed by Max Boegli, and issued by Switzerland on September 14, 1978 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the humanitarian's birth, Scott No. 663, plus an image of a photograph of Henri Dunant as a young man which was surely the model for this stamp's design. - nethryk |
